Soviet director, screenwriter.
Studied at the Leningrad College of Screen Art (1925-1926), at the Film Department of the Leningrad Institute of Art History (1926-1928). He worked as an accompanist at the Leningrad Proletkult Theater. Over the years, he staged performances in the country's opera houses. Since 1928 - director of the Sovkino film studio (Lenfilm). In 1941-1942 he was a translator of the political department of the Leningrad Front, in 1942-1945 he was a director of the TsOKS. In 1948-1953 he was senior editor of the script department of the Lenfilm film studio.
