Pavel Pankov was born on July 19, 1922 in the village of Ust-Izhora. The family of Pyotr Pankov and Zinaida Chizhova had two sons and two daughters. Later, all four linked their fate with the theater. In 1939, Pankov began his career at the Lensovet Theater Studio. In 1947 he graduated from the studio at the Gorky Bolshoi Drama Theater.
