Born on January 10 (23), 1906 in Odessa, (now in Ukraine), in the family of a priest.
In 1922 he began his stage activity at the Odessa National Theater. In 1926 he entered the Odessa Ukrainian Drama Theater, at the same time studied at the studio at the theater (graduated in 1928). Since 1928 - an actor at the Kharkov Krasnozavodsky Theater (since 1933 - in Donetsk).
From 1944 to 1956 - in the troupe KUADT named after I. Ya.Franko.
In 1964-1984 - the leading actor of the Lesya Ukrainka KATRD.
Since 1926 he acted in films. Member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Ukrainian SSR.
He died in Kiev on July 28, 1984 (according to other sources - July 29). Buried at the Baikovo cemetery.
