Marsha Hunt - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Actress.
Born October 17, 1917 - American actress.
During her middle school years, she also attended drama school where she took acting lessons. Hunt worked briefly as a singer and model before signing with Paramount Pictures in 1934. Her film debut took place a year later in the film, where she immediately got one of the main roles. In 1938, Marsha married director Jerry Hopper, whom she divorced in 1943. Three years later, in 1946, she became the wife of screenwriter Robert Presnell Jr., whose marriage lasted until his death in 1986.
In the 1930s and 1940s, in addition to her active film work, Hunt also devoted much time to social organizations. Her signature has often been on various petitions promoting many liberal programs. She was also a member of the First Amendment Committee, which also included such Hollywood stars as Myrna Loy, Humphrey Bogart, Henry Fonda, Frank Sinatra and many others. In this regard, her name appeared on the pages of the anti-communist publication "Red Channels" and soon Marsha Hunt, along with her husband, was blacklisted in Hollywood. This caused big problems in their careers, as many directors refused to shoot the actress in their films. On October 27, 1947, she traveled to Washington with a group of 30 filmmakers (including John Houston and Lauren Bacall) to protest the actions of Congress. Three days later, she returned to Hollywood, and was immediately presented with an ultimatum condemning her actions. She was offered to stop her liberal activities, otherwise the way to the big screens would be closed for her. Marsha Hunt was very outraged by this fact, because she was not a communist, but only fought for freedom of speech and free democracy, and refused to compromise. Thus, the actress further exacerbated her film career, which almost faded away in 1949.
In the years that followed, she appeared in only a few movies, and mainly worked in television. Subsequently, although the views of the American government changed a lot, and the blacklist ceased to exist, Marsha Hunt never reached the previous stellar level of the 1930s. She last appeared on the screens in the short film by Eddie Mueller in 2008. She continues to be visibly interested in many social issues, including global pollution, poverty, the problems of the third world countries and population growth.
