Apostle Karamitev was born on October 17, 1923 in the city of Burgas, Bulgaria. He was a very popular actor in the middle of the last century. The apostle was born into a poor family, his father worked as a dock worker in the port. As a teenager, the son often helped his father with work, moreover, since childhood, the future artist attended acting circles and participated in various youth performances. Parents quickly noticed the talent of their son, they in every possible way encouraged his desire to become an actor. In 1942 he went to the front and returned safely in 1945. Immediately after the war, he began to work in the Burgas printing house, and already in 1947 he successfully graduated from the Higher Theater School in Sofia.

The Apostle first appeared on the screens in 1951, in the movie Morning over the Motherland. But real success comes to him only after filming in the 1953 film - Our Land, directed by Anton Marinovich and Stefan Syrchadzhiev. For this role, the actor receives the Dmitrov Prize. The roles of the Apostle Karamitev have always been admired for their romance, the artist could fully convey the character of the heroes he played. In 1963, the Apostle was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the National Republic of Bulgaria, and in 1969 he became People's Artist of Bulgaria.

He was married to Margarita Duparinova, the couple has two children - Momchil Karamitev (better known as Max Freeman) and Margarita Karamiteva. In the end, the children also became artists, but did not achieve the success of their father. In honor of the actor, a drama theater was named in the city of Dimitrovgrad. The actor passed away on November 9, 1973 at the age of fifty in the city of Sofia, Bulgaria.
