Born November 24, 1964, Evesham, Worcestershire, UK - British parodist, stand-up comedian, singer, actor and songwriter.
Studied at the University of Leeds. Received a Bachelor of Arts degree (graduated from university in 1986). After that he entered the Gilhall School of Music and Theater, from which he graduated in 1989.
By his own admission, he entered the University of Leeds in part because of its proximity to Elland Road, home of his favorite football club, Leeds United.
Worked as a stand-up comedian and voiced several characters in ITV's Spitting Image puppet show.
Sports parodies performed by McGowan have been featured in the soccer television magazine Sick As A Parrot. He also starred in comedy series and appeared on the radio.
His most famous show was the parody show Alistair McGowan's Big Impression (later The Big Impression), where he performed alongside parodists Ronnie Ancona and Jan Ravens. There McGowan parodied famous politicians, musicians, actors, TV presenters and sports stars (see the "Parody Objects" section).
The most famous of them with Ancona are the "Posh and Becks" parodies - on Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) and David Beckham (Becks is his nickname). Since the Beckham family often changed their image (for example, David changed their hairstyles), Alistair and Ronnie Ancona also changed their costumes and image. Later he returned to acting - in particular, starred in the BBC TV series based on the novel by Charles Dickens "Bleak House".
