November 29, 1949, Chicago - March 24, 2016, Los Angeles - American actor, comedian, and writer.
Studied at the Palo Verde High School. After graduating from high school, he entered the University of Arizona with a degree in electrical engineering, but eventually switched to a major in marketing and receives a postgraduate professional education. In 1973 Shendling moved to Los Angeles. He temporarily works for an advertising agency and then sells scripts for several episodes of the television series Sanford and Son. In addition, he also wrote the scripts for the sitcoms "Welcome Back Cotter" and "Three is Company" .
In 1978, Schendling performed his first stand-up show at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles. In 1984, he gave the first special stand-up show, "Harry Shandling: Alone in Vegas," which aired on the cable television station Showtime. In 1986, the same TV channel showed the second stand-up performance of The Harry Shandling Show: 25th Special Anniversary. The third special stand-up show "Harry Shandling: Stand-Up" came out in 1991 and was part of the HBO Comedy Hour .
Played the role of Senator Stern in two films by Marvel Studios - "Iron Man 2" and "The First Avenger: Another War" .
Schendling died in hospital on March 24, 2016. Los Angeles police have confirmed the call for an ambulance. The cause of death was not named. It is known that the actor did not suffer from chronic diseases.
