Born March 3, 1926 in Alexandria (Ukraine) .
In the late 1940s, he worked as a literary contributor for the Donetsk newspaper Socialist Donbass. From 1947 he lived and worked in Moscow. Published since 1947, initially as an essayist. He wrote about the romance of miner's work, about the choice of a profession by young people, about the difficulties of forming a new person: "On the coal front" (1948), "There, at the coal mine ..." (1956), "In Mosbass" (1956), "Not for the sake of glory "(1958) and others. The essay books" Roads deep "(1957)," Two kilometers from Happiness "(1960) talk about the transformation of Lviv and Volyn region into an industrial region, about the development of a coal deposit in Volyn, Komsomol mines in Donbass etc. In the story "Defender Sedov" (1963) tells about a lawyer who defended four "enemies of the people" sentenced to death (in 1988 the story was filmed) .
He died in 1966 from heart disease and was buried at the Peredelkino cemetery (a grave monument by Vadim Sidur). A collection of his stories "The Second April" was published posthumously. The book of selected works by Zverev "Defender of Sedov" was published in 1990 with a foreword by B. Sarnov.
