Born on May 10, 1887. He performed in amateur performances. Since 1904 he played with professional actors in the People's Houses (Vvedensky) in Sokolniki, in the "Aquarium". In 1908 he worked in theaters in Siberia, Arkhangelsk, Novorossiysk. He performed comedic roles, later worked in various miniature theaters. Since 1919 - an artist of the Tbilisi Drama Theater, in 1922 - worked at the "Crooked Jimmy" theater. Took part in the organization of the Moscow Satire Theater, with which he later linked his fate. He acted in films. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1947) .
He passed away in 1955.
