Soviet screenwriter, director.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1978) .
Graduated from the screenwriting faculty of VGIK (1954, workshop of Evgeny Gabrilovich and Ilya Vaysfeld).
Member of the Great Patriotic War. Author of more than twenty scripts, wrote the first full-length script in 1953, which became the graduate work of the VGIK.
Based on his scripts, films were made: "Father's House" (1959), "A Simple Story" (1960), "Alyoshka's Love" (1961), "Tchaikovsky" (1970, together with I.V. Talankin and Yu.M. Nagibin) , "Still waters are deep" (1985) and others. Staged films: "Tomorrow's Worries" (1963, with G.L. Aronov), "The Silence of Dr. Evens" (1974).
He was buried in Moscow at the Vagankovskoye cemetery, plot number 12A.
