Was born on April 29, 1939 in Kharkov. Childhood and adolescence were spent in the city of Rivne, where he graduated from high school and drama studio.
From 1958 to 1963 he was an actor in the Kamenets-Podolsk and then Brest Drama Theaters.
From 1963 to 1968 he studied the theory of cinema, film criticism and film dramaturgy at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK).
After graduation and until the end of the 80s, he actively worked creatively as a screenwriter. He wrote about forty original scripts for fiction films, about a dozen for documentaries, several stories and theatrical plays.
