Born June 1, 1942 in Sverdlovsk.
The father was a high-ranking government official. Two brothers and two sisters of Vladimir graduated from technical universities.
He graduated from the radio equipment-building faculty of the Bauman School in Moscow.
After studying at the Bauman School, he entered the acting department of GITIS, after which he became a pantomime actor. Then in the 60s in Moscow this type of art was very fashionable. In the wake of this, the Pantomime Theater was created, into which the pupils of two courses - Kozintsev and Romm - joined.
After studying at GITIS, he served in the army, and in 1976 graduated from VGIK (workshop of Efim Dzigan).
His painting "A Dog Walked on a Piano" won the Grand Prix in the section of children's cinema at the 11th International Moscow Film Festival in 1979. Practically all subsequent works of V.A.Grammatikov were also awarded prizes at Russian and international film festivals.
He was repeatedly elected Secretary of the Board of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR and the Russian Federation. He headed the All-Union Commission of Children's Cinema under the Union of Cinematographers. For many years he was a member of the administrative council of CIFEZH at UNESCO.
Since 1988, he has been the artistic director of the Creative Association "Contact" at the Film Studio. M. Gorky, one of the founders and managers of the Joint Film Enterprise "Starlight", which was established in 1989.
From 1992 to 1996 - President of the International Children's Film Festival at the Artek ICC .
1998 to 2001 - General Director of the Central Film Studio for Children and Youth Films named after M. Gorky.
Since 2001 he has been managing the acting workshop at VGIK.
In 2008, he held a master class "Filmmaking Mastery" - the First All-Russian Film Festival of Actors-Directors "Golden Phoenix" in Smolensk.
