Studied at the Theater School named after B.V. Shchukin (1941-1942), graduated from the directing department of GITIS (1952, Gorchakov's workshop) .
Since 1942 - a participant in the Great Patriotic War.
In 1946-1947 he was an assistant director of the Mosfilm film studio, in 1952-1956 he was a director of the Kharkov Russian Theater named after A.S. Pushkin. In 1956-1959 - director of the Mosfilm film studio, since 1959 - director of the literary and dramatic editorial office of Central Television, since 1970 - director of the Ekran creative association, head of the CTV creative associations.
In the 1990s - artistic director of the Serial Studio .
The director was buried at the 13th site of the Preobrazhensky cemetery in Moscow.
