Born October 10, 1946, Redditch, Worcestershire, England, UK - British actor, screenwriter, director and producer.
He studied design and photography at Plymouth College of Art and then at the art school in Leicester, but later chose an acting career.
Dance first appeared on screen in 1974, but it wasn't until 10 years later that he became widely known after starring in the 1984 television series The Jewel in the Crown.
He has also appeared in other British television dramas such as The Phantom of the Opera (1990), Rebecca (1997), The Chronicles of Conan Doyle: The Case of the Bloody Room (2000), The Detective and the Ghost (2000-2001) , Velvet Fingers (2005) and Bleak House (2005). For his role in the latter, he was nominated for an Emmy.
Dance played the role of Lord Vetinari in the television adaptation of Terry Pratchett's book "Honored". The film was released in 2010.
In July 2010, it was confirmed that Dance would play the role of Tywin Lannister in the HBO television series Game of Thrones, an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire by writer George Martin. A big fan of the series, Dance was brought in by the producers while filming Your Majesty in Belfast.
One of the first roles of Dance on the big screen was the role of Klaus - the assistant of the main negative character in the 1981 film "For Your Eyes Only" from the James Bond series. One of his most recent works is as the Russian oligarch Alexander Borinsky in the 2010 film Paris Connections.
