Charles's father was a writer and television screenwriter. Born into a family in show business, Charles already in elementary school began to play in plays, he studied at Eton College. He studied at Cambridge, where he joined a theater club. After graduation, Charles joined the theatrical acting troupe in London, and then followed them on tour, with the group's repertoire. Charles Shaughnessy moved to the United States for actress Suzanne Fallender, where they got married. He is an avid fan of British football club Chelsea.
