Born March 27, 1979, Northampton, Northamptonshire, UK is a British actress, writer and journalist.

After graduating from high school, she entered the University of Cambridge where she studied history. She then left for New York to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute. She also took lessons from comedian Philippe Gaulier.

Louise Brealey made her stage debut in 2001 as 14-year-old Sophie in Sliding With Suzanne at London's Royal Court Theater. In 2005 she starred in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia at the Old Vic Theater in Bristol.

Louise Brealey also starred in Little Nell (2007), Uncle Vanya at the Rose Theater and English Touring Theater (2008), State Inspector at the Young Vic Theater (2011), Trojan Women at the Gate Theater (2012).

Louise Brealey made her debut film in the TV series Catastrophe, where she played a nurse. In 2005, she appeared as Judy Smallweed in the film adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel Bleak House.

In 2010, Louise Brealey was cast as pathologist Molly Hooper in the Sherlock series. It was originally planned that her heroine would only be in the first episode, but the audience liked the character so much that they decided to leave her.

In 2012, BBC 2 released The Charles Dickens Show, a documentary series about Charles Dickens, in which Louise Brealey played several roles and was also a producer and co-writer.

2013 saw the release of Father Brown, a remake of the 1950s British drama series in which Briley played the role of Eleanor Knight.
