Youssou N'Dour (fr. Youssou N'Dour; born October 1, 1959 in Dakar, Senegal) is a Senegalese singer and drummer. Minister of Culture of Senegal since April 2012.
One of the most famous singers of the African continent, who gained world fame after writing and performing the composition "7 Seconds" in a duet with Nene Cherry in 1994. In early 2012, he announced that he intended to run for president of Senegal. However, the country's Supreme Court forbade him to do so. Following the election victory of opposition candidate Maki Sala, N'Dour was named Minister of Culture of Senegal.
