March 9, 1909, Kherson - August 4, 1994, Kiev. People's Artist of the USSR (1960). He graduated from the drama studio at the Odessa Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater (1928, studied with L. Gakkebusch and V. Vasilko). In 1926-1936 he worked at the Odessa State Drama Theater named after the October Revolution. Since 1936 he has been an actor at the Ivan Franko Kiev Ukrainian Drama Theater. In cinema - since 1931.
The husband of actress Natalia Uzhviy. Ponomarenko carefully treated the heritage of the great actress, organized the archive, and sought to perpetuate her memory.
