Natalia Mikhailovna Uzhviy was born at the end of August 1898 in the city of Lyuboml (now Volyn region, Ukraine) Natalia played her first roles in the theater in an amateur theatrical circle in the town of Zolotonosha, where they moved with their family after the revolution. Since 1922 Natalia Uzhviy has been an actress of the First Theater of the Ukrainian SSR (Kiev). There she also met Ivan Maryanenko, who was her first mentor. In 1925 she worked at the Odessa State Drama Theater. And the next season began the period of her work in the Kharkov theater "Berezil". Here, under the leadership of Les Kurbas, Natalia becomes a leading actress on the theatrical stage, having played about three dozen roles. She skillfully knew how to deeply reveal the psychology of the images of her heroines.
In 1926, the actress made her film debut (P.K.P). The best films with Natalia Uzhviy in the pre-war period are Taras Shevchenko, Nazar Stodolya, Karmelyuk, Vyborgskaya side. During the Stalinist repressions of the thirties, after the arrest and execution of Kurbas, Natalia leaves Kharkov and returns to Kiev. There she found her last refuge on stage, at the Frank Kiev National Drama Theater, where she worked until the end of her life. During the war, a film was released with Natalia Uzhviy - Rainbow. Three years later, Natalya Mikhailovna received the Stalin Prize of the first degree for this picture.
After the war, she continued to play in the theater and act in films. Her best paintings are Missing, Happiness Stolen. She has received many awards and prizes (People's Artist of the USSR, Ukrainian SSR, Hero of Socialist Labor).
Natalia Mikhailovna Uzhvy's personal life is tragic. Was married three times. The second husband of the actress is Mikhail Semenko, who was repressed along with Kurbas. They had a son - Mikhail (died of meningitis in 1951). With her last spouse, actor Yevgeny Ponomarenko, Natalia Uzhviy lived until the end of her days. The actress died on July 29, 1986.
