Alexander Dmitrievich Gai has been an Honored Actor of the Ukrainian SSR since 1951, People's Artist of the SSR since 1956 and People's Artist of the USSR since 1977. Alexander Gai was born in modern Dnepropetrovsk in 1914 on August 8. He received his acting education first at the 2nd studio of the Moscow Art Theater in the Birman class, then at the Glazunov Music School (in the Bilyaeva-Tarasevich class).
Acting career began in 1929 at the Shevchenko Dnepropetrovsk Theater. He worked there until 1932. From 1936 to 1938 he worked in parallel at the Moscow Ermolova Theater. Even while serving in the army since 1938, he participated in military ensembles. In 1947 he entered the Zankovetska Lviv Drama Theater as an actor. In 2000, on November 14, Alexander Dmitrievich passed away.
