Born May 31, 1921 in Petrograd in a working class family.
After graduating from a theater studio in Leningrad in 1938, Vladimir Vasiliev was accepted as an actor at the Leningrad Comedy Theater. With the outbreak of war in 1941, the actor volunteered for the people's militia, and then served as an artist in the Leningrad House of Officers.
From 1943 to 1945 Vasiliev fought in the 36th reserve rifle division. At the end of the war, Vladimir Vasiliev returned to the Comedy Theater, where he worked until 1950, and from 1950 to 1956 - an artist of the Leningrad Circus Association.
In 1956, Vasiliev became a member of the Lenfilm film studio and actually immediately began acting in films. One of the first works was participation in the film by Grigory Kozintsev "Don Quixote", where the actor dubbed Nikolai Cherkasov in scenes where he had to ride a horse and take part in battles.
On September 11, 1970, Vladimir Vasiliev was returning from another shooting. At the Minsk airport, he suddenly felt bad, and the actor died suddenly. The actor was buried at the Theological cemetery of Leningrad (St. Petersburg).
