Born April 4, 1941. In 1962 he graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School. In the Art Theater, he played almost a hundred roles (eight large, the rest - inputs, replacements). In 1990, together with his wife, actress Elena Kondratova, they organized their own entreprise, in which they staged three duet performances ("Lady with a Dog" by A. Chekhov, "In Paris" by I. Bunin and "The Master and Margarita" by M. Bulgakov). Since 1991 - an actor of the Moscow theater "At the Nikitsky Gate". Since January 1999 he has been the head of the Chekhov Memorial Theater in Melikhovo.
