In 1939 he graduated from the Kiev Conservatory, class of composition by L.N. Revutsky.
Member of the Great Patriotic War.
In 1948-1952 executive secretary,
in 1954-1956 and since 1973 deputy chairman of the board of the Union of Composers of the Ukrainian SSR.
Since 1968 secretary of the board of the Union of Composers of the USSR.
President of the music section of the Ukrainian Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries since 1968.
