Born on January 19, 1912 in the village of Bystrovka, Kiev province (now Zhytomyr region).
Graduated from the Kiev Film Institute (1934).
Since 1935 - assistant director, then - director of the Kiev Film Studio. He worked in groups of Ivan Kavaleridze (Perekop, Koliivshchina, Prometheus) and Vladimir Brown (Blue Roads).
Member of the Great Patriotic War.
Since the beginning of the 1950s, he has been making feature films at the A.P. Dovzhenko, Ukrainian dubbing director, author of documentaries.
Professor of the Karpenko-Kary KSITI (1970), author of books about cinema.
Since 1963 - First Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine.
People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1969)
People's Artist of the USSR (1972).
Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
He passed away on December 14, 1998 in Kiev.
