Born on November 9, 1929, Beketovka (now the Volgograd region), Nizhne-Volzhsky Krai - Soviet and Russian composer.
From childhood, she was distinguished by exceptional musical talent. She wrote her first melodies at the age of three. At the age of five she composed a piece for piano "The Roosters Sing" .
In 1936 - at the age of seven she entered the city music school, where she studied before the outbreak of the war. From August 6, 1942 to 1943 - in evacuation in Karaganda. There she continued her studies at the local music school (in 1952 the school was transformed into the Karaganda Music School; now - the Tattimbet Karaganda College of Arts). In the fall of 1943, she was admitted to the Central Music School at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she studied piano with the teacher M.V. Vasilyeva and attended a circle of young composers under the direction of Vissarion Yakovlevich Shebalin and Nikolai Ivanovich Peiko. In 1948, Pakhmutova entered the composing department of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, in 1953 she graduated with honors in composition from Vissarion Yakovlevich Shebalin, in 1956 she successfully completed her postgraduate studies. From 1968 to 1991, Alexandra Pakhmutova - Secretary of the Board of the Union of Composers of the USSR. One of the most popular and demanded composers of the USSR, especially as a composer-songwriter.
Since July 26, 2010 - Member of the Patriarchal Council for Culture (Russian Orthodox Church) .
