Endowed with good mathematical skills, Thierry decides to complete economic courses at the Lycee Louis Pasteur (English) in Neuilly-sur-Seine. There he meets Christian Clavier and Gerard Junio. Together they start performing at the Cafe-Theater where they form the Le Splendid troupe. They are later joined by Marie-Anne Chazelle. Some of their scenes will later be filmed. In 1984, he starred in Claude Zidi's film Open, Police! which brought him fame.
