Born September 5, 1949 in Yeisk, Krasnodar Territory.
In 1971 he graduated from the history department of the Rostov-on-Don State University.
He worked as an administrator, assistant director, second director, since 1988 - director of the movie "Mosfilm" .
In 1984 he graduated from the directing department of the VKSR (workshop of E.A. Ryazanov).
In 1989 he trained at the Sundance Institute (Robert Redford Film School), Utah, USA, in 1994 he trained and taught at the Biscops High School, Arno Nordisk Sweden.
Member of the Board of the Russian Society of Rightholders in the Audiovisual Sphere (ROPAS).
Also works on television. Author of a number of articles and studies on history, film history and literature.
