Born July 17, 1958.
At the age of five, Wong Karwai moved to Hong Kong with his parents. After moving, he could not adapt to the Cantonese dialect for a long time, so he spent hours watching films with his mother in cinemas to learn the language. After graduating from Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a degree in graphic design in 1980, he went to work for TVB as a screenwriter. Between 1982 and 1987, Carway wrote scripts for more than ten films.
