Fei Wong was born in Beijing in 1969. Her mother is an opera singer by profession, her father is an engineer. From an early age, Fay showed interest in music, loved to sing very much.
In 1987, the girl and her parents moved to Hong Kong. There she tried to start a modeling career, but quickly lost interest in this profession. Then the father paid for Fay's singing courses. Teacher Wong instantly saw her talent, and soon she was already performing at numerous events. After some time, she signed a contract with the record company "Cinepoly". Fei took the pseudonyms Wong Jing Man and Shirley, and in 1989 her album "Shirley Wong" was released. In 1993, two more Fay albums were released - "No Regrets" and "100,000 Why`s", in 1994 "Mystery" was recorded. These works are still considered some of the best in Wong's career.
In 1994, a film with Faye Wong - Chungking Express, directed by renowned director Wong Karwai, was presented. The picture was a great success, it became one of the best films made in China over the past decade. Faye then returned to her singing career and released several more albums, the last of which was released in 2003.
In 2000, Wong resumed her film work. Faye Wong replenished the filmography with the films Meetings in Okinawa, Chinese Odyssey 2002, Let's Part, Though I Love, 2046. In all these films, the actress played the main roles.
In 2006 she stopped singing and acting for a while, deciding to devote herself entirely to her family. In 2011, Faye returned to the stage and embarked on a world tour.
