Born August 13, 1961, he is an American novelist and screenwriter best known for his novels Upstart (1998) and Like Little Children (2004), which have been adapted into critically successful Academy Award-nominated films. Perrotta co-wrote the 2006 film version of Like Little Children, along with Todd Field, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. He is also best known for his novel Left Behind (2011), which was adapted into an HBO television series.
