Born November 22, 1970, Harris County, Texas, USA - American screenwriter.

Arndt's father was a member of the Foreign Service, and as a result he lived in various countries, including Sri Lanka and India; he also lived in Virginia for a while. Arndt graduated from Langley High School in McLane and also attended Potomac School. He graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Arndt was a script reader for a while, and was the personal assistant to actor Matthew Broderick until late 1999, when he decided to write the scripts. His twin brother, David, is a professor at St. Mary in California.

Arndt wrote the first draft of Little Miss Happiness in three days between May 23-26, 2000. From this initial outline, he made about 100 edits over the course of a year, soliciting input from friends and family.

Arndt was one of the screenwriters who wrote their versions of the scripts for Men in Black 3.

Arndt won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Little Miss Happiness and was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for Toy Story 3. This made Arndt the first screenwriter to be nominated for both Oscars for both Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay for his first two screenplays.

He is also referred to under the pseudonym Michael deBruin, which is mainly used in the early versions of the scripts.
