Born 1932 London - English actor.
In the late 1950s, Melvin became the lead actor of the Theater Workshop founded by Joan Littlewood, starring in productions such as The Hostage, A Taste of Honey, Oh! What A Lovely War !. His film career began in 1960 with the film "Crime". Melvin was "Teddy Boy" by type, a role that he played in the early 60s. In 1961, Melvin played one of the main roles in the acclaimed film A Taste of Honey (1961, directed by Tony Richardson), which is one of the top 100 British films. "Taste of Honey" made a lot of noise, because it showed homosexuality in a positive way. The gay salesman Jeffrey was played by Melvin and was nominated for the role for a BAFTA and received the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor.
