Illeana Douglas (born July 25, 1965) is an American actress, director, screenwriter and producer.
Illeana Douglas is the granddaughter of actor Melvin Douglas. She made her debut in 1987 with a small role in Shelley Long's Hello Again and played more than ninety screen roles in the following years.
Douglas is perhaps best known for her role in the 1991 thriller Cape Fear directed by Martin Scorsese, she appeared in four of Scorsese's films, including a starring role in Joy of My Heart (1996) and minor roles in What Is Worth Dying For. (1995), which earned her a nomination for the Saturn Award, and The World of Ghosts (2001). On television, she appeared on The Client Is Always Dead, for which she was nominated for an Emmy in 2002. She also appeared in the TV series Ugly and Handsome.
On May 16, 1998, she married producer and screenwriter Jonathan Axelrod, they divorced in 2001.
