Elissa Lundy - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Actress.
December 6, 1904 - October 21, 1948 - Austrian, later American actress and writer. She was born in Venice. Her childhood was spent in Austria, and she received her education in England. In her youth, she dreamed of becoming a writer and at the age of twenty she wrote her first novel. Her acting career began in Europe in the 1920s, when she appeared in British, French and German films. In 1931, she immigrated to the United States, where she made her Broadway debut in A Farewell to Arms. In the same year, she signed with the Fox Film Corporation and later starred in films such as Yellow Ticket (1931), Body and Soul (1931), The Woman in Room 13 (1932), The Sign of the Cross. (1932) and The Enigma of the Count of Monte Cristo (1934), which became the most visible in her film career. In 1936, 20th Century Fox canceled her contract due to the fact that Elissa refused to play one of the roles in her new film. After that, Lundy went to MGM, but appeared in only two films of this company, among which the most famous was "For a Thin Man" (1936) with Myrna Loy in the title role.
In 1943, she stopped acting, devoting herself to further literature. She became the author of six novels and a collection of poems. In the same year, Elissa became a US citizen.
Elissa Lundy died of cancer on October 21, 1948. For her contribution to the cinema, she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1615 Vine Street.
