Born December 23, 1936 - American actor.
Born 1936 in Waxahachi, Texas, to a family of furniture merchants. He gained fame after playing the role of a soldier in Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now. In 1979 he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the film "Rose" as a supporting actor. From 1980 to 1982 he was married to actress Marylou Henner.
