May 14, 1903 - December 31, 1997 - American actress.
Born in New York into a family of Swiss immigrants Charles and Bertha Boni. As a teenager, she began modeling to help feed her family, and at the age of 15 she was noticed by Florenz Siegfeld and invited to his famous Broadway revue "The Siegfeld Folly" .
Having achieved some success on Broadway, she moved to Hollywood, where she made her silent film debut in 1921. By the mid-1920s, Dove had become one of the most popular actresses of the decade, appearing in popular films such as Horseshoe for Luck (1925), Air Mail (1925), Black Pirate (1926), Little Boots. (1926) and American Beauty (1927) .
Since 1923, the actress has married the film director Irwin Willot, whom she divorced six years later. She also had a three-year romance with Howard Hughes, who was a big fan of her. He starred an actress in two of his films in the early 1930s, and it was already approaching the wedding, but Dove dumped him at the last moment. In 1932, Billy Dove completed her film career, and a year later she married oil producer Robert Kenaston. The couple had a son, and they also took in an adopted daughter. Their marriage lasted 37 years until Kenaston's death in 1970. Three years after his death, 70-year-old Dove married the architect John Miller, whom she soon divorced. In 1962, after a 30-year hiatus, the actress returned to the big screen, playing a small role in the melodrama "The Diamond Crown of the Borax" with Charlton Heston in the title role. Dove spent her later years in Rancho Mirage, California, and when her health began to deteriorate, she moved to the Woodland Hills House of Film and Television Actors, where she died in 1997 of pneumonia. Billy Dove received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to the US film industry.
