After the birth of Geza, his mother left the family, and the boy's father died when he was 4 years old. Geza was brought up in an orphanage, and from the age of 12 - in a foster Jewish family.
In the 80s he was the singer of one group called "Huckleberry", whose concerts were often interrupted by the authorities of the Hungarian People's Republic. During his studies at the University of Geza, he studied Hungarian and Polish. After a student trip to Auschwitz, Rohrig became interested in Hasidism, becoming its adherent already in Brooklyn. Graduated from the Academy of Drama and Cinema in Budapest with a degree in filmmaking.
Since 2000, Geza has lived in the Bronx, New York, and studied at the Jewish Theological Seminary. He also worked as a kindergarten teacher. After moving to Brooklyn, he teaches at a Jewish school (yeshiva) .
Geza Roerig has published many collections of poetry. He was married twice and has four children.
In 1989, Geza Roerig took part in 2 TV series: "Kozjatek" and "Eszmelet", playing minor roles in both. In 1990 he played a role in the film "Armelle". In 2015 Geza starred in the film Son of Saul (directed by Laszlo Nemesh). The role of Saul Auslander brought Rohrig a huge success. Geza received several awards for him.
