Born May 13, 1961, Trenton, New Jersey, USA is a retired American actor and basketball player who played for various NBA clubs.
Winner of five championship rings (1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998). Known for his aggressive rebounding style as well as his tough defense. Was the best rebounding average per game in seven consecutive NBA regular seasons, the highest in league history. Rodman has been on the All-Star Defense Team seven times and has been named the NBA's Best Defensive Player twice. His biography on the NBA website begins with the words "possibly the best NBA rebounding player ever." On April 1, 2011, the Detroit Pistons retired the number 10 jersey that Rodman used to play on the team. On August 12, 2011, the athlete was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Unlike other NBA players, Rodman has managed to make a pretty impressive and lucrative side career in the entertainment industry as an actor and wrestler. He regularly participates in all kinds of TV shows and entertainment shows. This is largely due to his penchant for extravagance in clothing, behavior, makeup, hair color, tattoos, piercings, as well as his penchant for scandalous statements and interviews with the media. In 2005, Rodman was a defendant in a rape case, but was acquitted. In March 2013, as part of the filming of the HBO show Vice, he visited North Korea and took part in a gala dinner with the country's leader Kim Jong-un.
