Born April 20, 1971, Louisville, Kentucky, USA is an American professional basketball player and actor.

Attended Bollard High School and played for the high school basketball team, helping her win the state championship in 1988. After graduation, Allan entered the University of Tennessee, whose basketball team was coached by his father. In four years in college, he scored 2,801 points, becoming the highest scoring player in university history. In 2011, his number 20 was withdrawn from circulation on the university team.

In 1993, Houston was selected 11th in the NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, which after two league titles in 1989 and 1990 fell. In his debut season, Allan received little playing time, but by the third season he became one of the leading players on the team, especially effective in attack from long distance.

After becoming a free agent in 1996, Houston was signed to the New York Knicks. He became a key player on the team that reached the 1999 NBA Finals and the 2000 Eastern Conference Finals. In 2000 and 2001, Houston played in the NBA All-Star Game, in 2000 he became the Olympic champion in the US national team. In 2007 and 2008, Houston tried to return to the NBA and played for the New York Knicks in pre-season training, but due to poor physical condition he failed to gain a foothold in the team. After finally completing his playing career, he was promoted to Assistant General Manager of the Knicks. Houston is a co-owner of UNK NBA sportswear firm. He also does charity work through his foundation, and in 2008 he organized a fundraiser for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama.
