July 11, 1884 - July 16, 1978 - American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, he began his career in 1904 as a theater actor in New York City. Estabrook made his film debut in 1914 during the silent film era. He left cinema in 1916 in an attempt to start his own business, but returned in 1921.
Estabrook worked in leadership positions in various studios, and eventually began producing films in 1924. He soon found his calling in screenwriting. He worked on screenplays for Hell's Angels (1930) and Fortune Street (1930), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. The following year he won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Cimarron .
Estabrook continued his career as a screenwriter for three decades and was also involved in film production until his death on July 16, 1978 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California.
