Born November 11, 1925 - British actress. She was born in South London, where at the age of three she was sent by her mother to a dance school. During a forced evacuation during World War II to West Sussex and then to West Yorkshire, she studied shorthand and misin writing, after which she also attended secretariat courses. After returning to London, Whitfield enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, from which she graduated in 1944. She began her career in radio in the late 1940s, and with the beginning of the new decade she began to appear on television. It was her active work on television that brought the actress popularity.
