1894-1948 - American theater and film actor.
Born in Aitkin, Minnesota. He had a strong external resemblance to the famous actor John Barrymore, which partly influenced the choice of his career. He studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (American Academy of Dramatic Arts). In 1931 he left Broadway and moved to Hollywood. He was nicknamed "The King of Pre-Code Hollywood". His role was various immoral businessmen, lawyers and other "heartless personalities", including Sam Spade.
The first (in 1934) on the wide screen played the role of Perry Mason in the film adaptations of the works of Earl Stanley Gardner.
In 1923 he married Helen Barbara Nelson, a woman seventeen years his senior, but who nevertheless survived him. Warren William died on September 24, 1948 at the age of 54 from multiple myeloma.
Awarded a Star (1559 Vine Street) on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
