Born December 13, 1950 - American actress and former model.
She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware in 1972 and began her modeling career with the Wilhelmina Cooper agency. At the beginning of her career, she changed her name Wendy (Wendy) to Wendie (Wendie), and in the late seventies she became interested in acting. Wendy Malik's first comedic role was on Saturday Night Live, after which she auditioned for the role of Diana Chambers on the sitcom Gay Company, but went to Shelley Long. Instead, Malik tried her hand at drama, co-starring in the 1983 medical series Trauma Center, which closed after one season. When the series was canceled, she appeared on various television shows for the next five years before landing a memorable supporting role in The New Christmas Tale .
Wendy Malik's career breakthrough came as Judith Tupper Stone, the protagonist's ex-wife, in the HBO comedy series Like a Movie, where she starred for six seasons, from 1990 to 1996. She has won four CableACE Awards for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, as well as critical acclaim for her performance on the show. In between filming the sitcom, Malik completed her resume with dozens of guest roles in various series, including New York Police, Los Angeles Law, Tales from the Crypt, Crazy About You, Seinfeld "," Cybill ", and" Rescuers Malibu ". Her more memorable role was in the 1994 television movie Madonna: Innocence Lost, in which she played a lesbian and young Madonna's manager. In 1997, Wendy Malik was cast as Nina Van Horn, a former supermodel and now magazine editor in the NBC comedy Fashion Magazine. The show was a big hit on TV ratings, albeit coolly received by critics, but Malik earned praise from reviewers for her performance of the sharp-tongued, drinking former supermodel. This led her to two Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Comedy Series and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in Television. In addition to her role in the sitcom, she starred in the television movie The Story of Anne and Abby (1999) and voiced one of the characters in the commercially successful animated film The Emperor's Adventures (2000) .
In 2003, when Fashion Magazine ended after seven seasons, Wendy Malik joined the cast of another NBC sitcom, Frazier, as Ronnie Lawrence, which she played until its May 2004 finale. She later starred with John Stamos in the short-lived sitcom Jake Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow (2005-2006), and then in the experimental comedy Special Day (2006-2007), also closed after one season. On the big screen, her career has been more successful, mainly due to her character roles in the comedies "Reckless Races", "Park of Culture and Leisure", "Shopaholic", "The Salesman" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks 2." In 2010, Wendy Malik returned to television with the role of actress Victoria Chase, five-time divorced soap opera star and Emmy award winner in the sitcom Pretty Women in Cleveland, alongside Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leaves and Betty White. The show received praise from critics, and Malik was considered one of the main contenders for the Emmy, although it never received a nomination. However, she was nominated along with other actresses for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Performance by a Cast in a Comedy Series in 2011. The series ran for six seasons with 128 episodes.
