August 9, 1901, Walpole, Massachusetts, USA - May 6, 1990, Palm Springs, California, USA - American silent and early talkie actor.

Charles began his career in Hollywood in the early 1920s. His first film work was a small role in the 1923 film The Cheat, starring Paula Negri and Jack Holt. The second film with the actor's participation was the very popular film The Hunchback of Notre Dame based on the novel by Victor Hugo with Lon Cheney as Quasimodo.

In the 1920s, Charles starred in supporting roles. This continued until 1927, when the movie "Seventh Heaven" with Janet Gaynor in the title role was released. Charles played her lover. The film was such a great success with audiences and critics that Charles and Janet played together in more than ten films. The transition to sound films had little effect on the actor's career: his popularity did not fade away and he remained famous.

In the early 1950s, Charles began working in television, starring in the television series My Little Margie. The series ran from 1952 to 1955. Gail Storm starred as Charles' daughter. In 1956, the actor began hosting his own show, The Charles Farrell Show.

After completing his film career, Charles moved to Palm Springs, where he opened a tennis club with Ralph Bellamy. In 1953, Charles Farrell was elected Mayor of Palm Springs. He remained in this post for seven years.
