Her first big success came in 1975 with the release of the disco album Never Can Say Goodbye. This album proved to be very popular and, taking advantage of its success, Gloria soon released her second album Experience Gloria Gaynor. Still, the greatest success awaited her in 1978 when the album Love Tracks with the single "I Will Survive" was released. The song, which has become to some extent an anthem of women's emancipation, immediately took first place on the Billboard Hot 100, and in 1980 won the Grammy for Best Disco Composition .
In the early 1980s, Gaynor released two more albums that were ignored in the United States due to a boycott of the disco style. In 1982, Gaynor converted to Christianity and in this regard, declared that her life during the disco period was sinful. In 1983, her album Gloria Gaynor was released, in which she completely rejected disco and most of the compositions were recorded in the R&B style. Even the song "I Will Survive" was partially rewritten and acquired a religious character.
