Born September 3, 1953, Roanne, France - French director, screenwriter, producer and actor.
At 17, he was a simple post office worker. At the age of 21 he started working in a small animation studio. In the mid-seventies, he meets Mark Caro, who draws comics, and sculpts heads for puppets with him. Together they shot their first film, Le bunker de la derniere rafale (Le bunker de la derniere rafale), where they acted as screenwriters, directors, actors, cameramen and producers. This short film was released in 1981 and for several years was shown in France together with the first film by David Lynch "Eraser Head". Thus, the duet Karo - Zhene quickly gains cult status. Their first feature film, Delicatessen (1991), cemented their position in cinema. City of Lost Children (La cite des enfants perdus, 1995) cost much more and proved to be commercially unsuccessful.
