On the big screen, she starred in the comedies "She's Having a Baby" and "Nobody's Perfect", and on television she played a singer in two episodes of Dana Delaney's series "China Beach".
Gail O'Grady's breakthrough career was in the drama series NYPD, where she starred from 1993 to 1996. O'Grady avoided playing the stereotypically stupid blonde on the show, which eventually led her to three Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Drama Series. She left the series in 1996 with Sharon Lawrence to pursue other projects.
Gail O'Grady has found great success thanks to her numerous starring roles in television films, most notably One Against All, Karen's Three Lives, Another's Glory, Sex and a Single Mother, and More Sex for Mother - lonely ". On the big screen, however, her cast has been less extensive and has mostly appeared in the films Basketball Fever, It's an Old Feeling, and The Man On Call.
From 2002 to 2005, Gail O'Grady starred in the American Dreams series, which began in the 1960s.
