August 24, 1934 - August 13, 2016 - English film actor.
He studied there, then at a boarding school in Kent. The only child in the family, he wanted to become, like a father, an engraver, but could not get a proper education. In Hastings, where he lived with his stepmother, one day in 1951 he was invited right on the street to the theater troupe of dwarfs. He agreed, then went to work in a circus, in a cabaret.
In the late 1990s, Kenny Baker began performing in the stand-up genre, playing the harmonica.
As of 2005, resided in Preston.

In 1960 and 1962, he first played bit parts in films, but real success came to him after appearing in the cult film by George Lucas “Star Wars. Episode IV: A New Hope "(1977). Baker played the role of R2-D2 in all seven of the original films (he also played one of the Ewoks in the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi). He and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) are the only actors to appear in seven films in the series. Although in the plot of the pictures these two robots are close friends, in reality the relationship between the actors was very strained.
In 1970 he married Eileen Baker, they had two children. Despite the fact that both Kenny and Eileen suffered from dwarfism, their children did not inherit this disease. In 1983, Eileen starred in the movie Star Wars. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi ”episodic role of one of the Ewoks. Kenny Baker passed away on August 13, 2016.
