Vaclav Vorlicek is a Czech film director and screenwriter, born on June 3, 1930, called the king of comedy in the Czech Republic. Honored Artist of Czechoslovakia (1979).
Studied film directing at the School of Cinematography in Prague (1951-1956). His graduate work was the short film "Directive". He made his directorial debut in the film Pripad Lupinek in 1960.
He worked as an assistant director at the Barrandov film studio. Vrolicek's first films were directed at children, later he became known as a master of parody and spy films. In total, he has directed over 30 films and television films. Among his most famous works is the production of the film "Three Nuts for Cinderella" (1973) based on his own script. Vorlichek uses absurd humor and eccentricity. Staged films-fairy tales: "Three Nuts for Cinderella" (1974, with the GDR), "How princesses are woken up" (1978), "The Prince and the Evening Star" (1978), "Arabella" (13 episodes, TV movie). Has directed the films "Rushing Wine" (1976, jubilee prize of the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary), "Ripe Wine" (1981), "Green Wave" (1982).
