February 18, 1932, Chaslav, Czechoslovakia - April 13, 2018, USA - Czech and American film director, screenwriter, actor and producer.

Foreman studied in Podebrady at a boarding school in Podebrady Castle together with the future first president of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel and the Mashinov brothers. He gained worldwide fame after the film "Black Peter" (1963), which received the main prize of the Locarno Film Festival. The caustic satirical film Firefighters' Ball (It's Burning, My Lady, 1967) largely anticipated the mood of the Prague Spring. After the introduction of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia, in 1968, he emigrated to the United States.

The first films of the American period were Breakaway (1971; Grand Prix of the Cannes Film Festival) and Hair (1979).

One One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), a parable about the conflict between personality and a repressive society, has collected all 5 major Academy Awards: Best Picture, Directing, Best Screenplay, and Two Actor. The film, which many critics consider a masterpiece of American cinema, is based on the book of the same name by Ken Kesey (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; variants of the Russian title: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"), which was dissatisfied with the adaptation. With the success of the film, Milos Forman's career as an American filmmaker was established, and his worldwide fame came.
